Just A Review & Giveaway:My True Nature Bubble Bath & Shampoo/Body Wash

I was sent a bottle of shampoo/body wash, and a bottle of bubble bath from My True Nature for this review. Having a 10-year-old Daughter that still loves bubble baths, I was excited to receive these to try. Well, Alex was excited.

Alex tried the shampoo/body wash first. She loved the scent, it was very citrusy. She said that it felt very clean as she was using it, not filmy. It left her hair manageable, and easy to comb. She has curly hair that tends to knot, especially after she spends hours in the pool. After using Daisies 2- in- 1 combo, she had no problem brushing out her hair.

Alex also tried the bubble bath, and she was really happy with both the quantity and quality of the bubbles. She said (I wasn’t invited in to see of course) that the bubbles lasted longer than some of her other bubble baths (a good thing). She also was happy about how her skin felt afterwards. Not oily or filmy, but very clean.

From My True Nature: The idea for My True Nature™ came after my first baby was born. Like many mothers, I wanted to create a safe home environment. But when I couldn’t find a line of soaps and shampoos that had 100% natural ingredients, performed as well as typical mainstream products, and were completely free of genetically modified organisms, parabens, petrochemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrances, triclosan or preservatives, I decided to start producing them myself. Before I knew it, I had a line of products that my friends and family loved. I started selling them by word of mouth, and the business has grown from there.

One of my readers will WIN a combo gift set, includes a 4 oz bottle of Dewey’s Bubble Bath and a 4 oz bottle of Daisy’s 2-in-1 Shampoo/Body Wash. The prize will be shipped directly from My True Nature. Just follow the directions below.

What’s Cookin? Garlicky Mashed Smashed Potatoes

Like Usher sang, OMG!

These were some great mashed potatoes! The key ingredient, other than my smashing skills, were the garlic cloves. I freeze garlic cloves, so that I always have them when I need them. They defrost in a few minutes under cold water .Other than the missing potato masher, the recipe was easy (I used an ice cream scoop as a stand in for the masher).

Oh, and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 white or Yukon Gold potatoes, scrubbed
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • ½ stick butter
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Preparation:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Roast peeled garlic in a small baking dish in the oven for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are done.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water (the water should taste salty, almost like seawater) to a boil over medium heat.
  • Cut the unpeeled potatoes in half lengthwise, then cut each half into quarters. Each potato should end up cut into eight pieces.
  • When the water boils, add the cut potatoes to the water and lower heat to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the potatoes can easily be pierced with a knife.
  • Drain the potatoes and return to the pot. Add butter and mash lightly with a potato masher.
  • Remove garlic from the oven. Let it cool for a minute, then smash the soft, roasted garlic into the mashed potatoes.
  • Mash the garlic into the potatoes, then add the sour cream and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Adjust seasoning with Kosher salt and serve right away. Makes about 6 portions.

Just Rock N Roll To Me: 1990- NKOTB Take It Step By Step To #1

On this date in 1990, “Step By Step” by The New Kids On The Block was the #1 Single in the U.S. and the #1 LP in the U.K.

From Wikipedia:

Step by Step is the third studio album (fourth overall) from pop group New Kids on the Block, released in June 1990 via Columbia Records.

At the time of release the group was very popular and was being heavily merchandised, with everything from pillowcases, to marbles, to dolls, to a Saturday morning cartoon with their name and likeness. Step by Step debuted at number one on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and the UK Albums Chart, with the leadoff title track single topping the charts simultaneously and selling nearly three million copies, making it their highest selling single. Another top ten single, “Tonight”, followed, as the group embarked on their most ambitious world tour to date. After having earned success with Hangin’ Tough, the group took a more active role creatively on this album, co-writing and producing several of its tracks. They even started playing instruments on most of their songs. By the end of 1990, in spite of the album having gone multi-platinum, a public backlash against the group occurred, as evident with Step by Step’s third and last single, “Let’s Try It Again,” which failed to crack the top fifty.

Just Healthy: How To Make A Sage Infusion For Sore Throats

From eHow:

Here is an all-natural solution to a sore throat that works just as well for children as for adults. This article presents a method of making a healing sage infusion that works particularly well for easing the discomfort of a sore throat. Sage is naturally anti-inflammatory, honey is one of nature’s antiseptics, and lemon juice contains large amounts of Vitamin C (to boost immunity), as well as being antibacterial, antiseptic and decongesting.

What You Will Need:

  • ½ cup fresh sage leaves, torn into smaller pieces
  • 2 tbsp. honey (only for people more than 2 years old)
  • ½ cup fresh peppermint leaves, torn into smaller pieces
  • Juice of 1 fresh lemon
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • Strainer
  • Heat-proof bowl or container
  • Directions:

  • Place the torn sage leaves and peppermint leaves in the bowl. Add the lemon juice and the honey.

  • Pour the boiling water over the contents of the bowl and stir to dissolve the honey. Cover the bowl for 30 minutes.

  • Uncover the bowl and strain the liquid. Discard the leaves.

  • Sip the liquid like a tea to relieve the pain of a sore throat. Drink at least one cup every three to four hours, although relief should begin immediately.
