Keys To Saving: Hey, You Can’t Freeze Bread Crumbs, Can You?

Has this ever happened to you? You find a great deal on cartons of bread crumbs, so you stock up and put them in your pantry. Summer arrives, and when you open the box of bread crumbs, you find they are moldy. This can happen even before the date on the package.

If you have read my Keys To Saving, you know I try to avoid throwing away food. So can you freeze bread crumbs? Yes you can.

Here’s how:

  • Remove the bread crumbs from their original packaging.
  • Pour the crumbs into airtight containers or freezer bags.
  • Label the package with the contents and the date.
  • Place in the freezer for up to a year.
