My father died when I was a toddler. My mother remarried a man from Hawaii. My new step father’s life was so much different than our “german” lifestyle. It is very interesting now as look back on it, seeing how my mother blended a german cuisine with an asian-hawaiian cuisine. I must say she didn’t give up much of the german food but we did learn about asian cooking. One thing my step father had was a rice cooker and we had never seen or used one before knowing him. As a child growing up with my step father we always had a rice cooker to use! My mom would look forward to visits from my step dad’s merchant marine friend. He always brought us something from the orient and always brought my mom the newest design in a rice cooker. I never knew how to cook rice in a kettle and still don’t! Rice cookers are so fabulous….rice and water IN and vwella…perfect rice every time! Now the rice cooker models are amazing and can cook brown rices and steam and some even double as a crockpot!

I would not burn the rice. I have done that a few times lately. even my husband or older kids could make the rice for dinner. would be nice.

We have rice 4 times plus a week and it is not always the same each time this would give more consistent tasty rice.
It would so much easier and not near as messy as stove top in a pan.
Never had a rice cooker but would be nice to try one! One less thing on the stove to burn! LOL
