“Another Brick in the Wall” is the title of three songs set to variations of the same basic theme, on Pink Floyd’s 1979 rock opera, The Wall, subtitled Part 1 (working title “Reminiscing“), Part 2 (working title “Education“), and Part 3 (working title “Drugs“). All parts were written by Pink Floyd’s bassist, Roger Waters. Part II is a protest song against rigid schooling in general and boarding schools in particular.[1] It was also released as a single and provided the band’s only number-one hit in the United Kingdom, the United States, West Germany and many other countries. In addition, in the US, along with the tracks, “Run Like Hell”, and “Don’t Leave Me Now”, “Another Brick in the Wall” reached number fifty-seven on the disco chart.[2] In the UK, it was their first single since 1968′s “Point Me at the Sky”; the song was also the final number-one single of the 1970s. For Part II, Pink Floyd received a Grammy nomination for Best Performance by a Rock Duo or Group and lost to Bob Seger’s “Against the Wind”. In addition, Part II was number 375 on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.[3] The single sold over 4 million copies worldwide.

“I Love Rock ‘n Roll” is a rock song written in 1975 by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker of Arrows, who recorded the first released version. The song was later made famous by the hit version recorded by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts in 1981.
Joan Jett saw the Arrows perform ”I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” on their weekly television series Arrows when she was touring England with The Runaways in 1976. She first recorded the song in 1979 with two of the Sex Pistols: Steve Jones and Paul Cook. This first version was not released until 1993 in Flashback. In 1981, Jett re-recorded the song, this time with her band, The Blackhearts. This recording became a U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one single for seven weeks,[2] effectively launching Jett’s solo career. The single was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, representing one million units sold. All versions count once toward certification. This success propelled Jett’s I Love Rock ‘n Roll album to number two on the Billboard 200. Joan Jett’s version was ranked #89 in the list 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of Rolling Stone.

Sara” is the title of a song recorded by the American band Starship. It was sung by Mickey Thomas, of the newly renamed band Starship, from their first album Knee Deep in the Hoopla. The song debuted at number 39 on January 18th 1986 and hit number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 15, 1986 staying at that position for one week. It was the band’s second number-one hit after the song “We Built This City” hit the mark a few months earlier in 1985. It also became the band’s first number-one song on the adult contemporary chart, where it remained for three weeks [1]. Although written by Peter and Ina Wolf, the song was named for Thomas’s wife at the time, Sara (née Kendrick).

Say My Name” is a song by American R&B group Destiny’s Child. The song was the third single from the group’s 1999 album The Writing’s on the Wall, released through Columbia label in 2000 (see 2000 in music). The single is the most successful of the four releases from the album and is considered to be one of their signature songs. The song won awards for “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals” and “Best R&B Song” and two was nominated for “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the 2001 Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award.
It is the first single to introduce the second lineup featuring newly added members Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. However, their vocals are not present on the single.
In October 2011, NME placed it at number 58 on its list “150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years”.

We Are Young” is a song by American indie pop band Fun, and featuring American singer Janelle Monáe. The song was released on September 20, 2011, as the first single from Fun’s second studio album Some Nights. The song was the first to be written for the band’s second album and was the first to be recorded, setting a template for the rest of the sessions that created the record. “We Are Young” is a “grandiose alternative number, built on theatrical orchestration and a propulsive, immediate chorus that beams with inspirational effect.”
The track initially only gained attention from online media, but was soon covered by the television show Glee. With the Glee version having success on the charts, the song was licensed for use in a Chevrolet spot to air during Super Bowl XLVI. The single soon bolstered the band into mainstream success, topping the digital charts in February 2012 and becoming a crossover hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 through airplay on contemporary hit radio stations. “We Are Young” has been certified double platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America and has been widely credited for propelling the band into popularity, after some minor success with their debut album Aim and Ignite in 2009. The song is Fun’s and Monáe’s first number-one single and her only single to reach the top ten of the Hot 100.

“Never Gonna Give You Up” is a song by British singer Rick Astley. It was written and produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman. The song was released as the first single from Astley’s multi-million selling debut album, Whenever You Need Somebody. The song was a worldwide number-one hit, initially in the singer’s native United Kingdom in 1987, where it stayed at number one for five weeks and was the best-selling single of that year. It eventually topped the charts in 25 countries, including the US and West Germany.[1]
The song won Best British Single at the 1988 Brit Awards. The music video for the song has become the basis for the “Rickrolling” Internet meme.
In 2004, it was voted #28 in 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs … Ever by VH1. In 2008, Rick Astley won the MTV EMA awards for “Best Act Ever” with the song “Never Gonna Give You Up”, as a result of collective voting from thousands of people on the internet, due to the popular phenomenon of rickrolling.
This song was released as DLC for the game Rock Band 3 as of February 14, 2012.

“Take a Bow” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from her 1994 studio album Bedtime Stories. It has since also appeared on her compilation albums Something to Remember (1995), GHV2 (2001) and Celebration (2009). Released as a single in December 1994, it became her longest-running number-one hit in the United States. Madonna performed “Take a Bow” with Babyface at the 1995 American Music Awards. It was her first single to reach number-one in the United States after 1992′s “This Used to Be My Playground” and it was her last number-one song in the United States in the 1990s.
