This is a picture of my Daughter Alex just after turning 3, looking into one of the storefronts at Downtown Disney. That was a terrific trip for us. Alex was old enough to be excited by everything, though it wasn’t her first trip.
Cinderella helped celebrate Alex’s birthday with us, what could be better than that? See the curls in Alex’s hair? They were natural.
Disney has always been special to me, I started going with my family in 1971, the year the Park opened. As Alex got older, we started going more often, buying the yearly passes helped make it affordable. We became experts on visiting frugally, or at least as frugal as you can be at Disney World. It helped to live 3 hours away, and of course gas was much cheaper than it is now.
My favorite picture from all of our trips to Disney is the one below. It was taken on the same 2003 trip as the ones above. I look at the picture all the time, especially as Alex gets older and more independent. I took the picture in the World Of Disney Store in Downtown Disney. Alex was admiring herself in the mirror, while she tried on Princess gowns. It wasn’t unusual for Alex to wear a Princess gown, but she needed a new one. What I love about the picture actually has nothing to do with the picture itself. More, what the picture will be some day. I can just imagine my Daughter standing in front of a similar mirror, with her Mom nearby (that’s Alina’s hand in the picture), trying on Wedding dresses. I dread the day, but just the same, it’s very special to me.
Enjoy reading about Disney, I hope all of you that want to go, can go some day. There is no place like it! And yes, we did buy the dress.
