My Dad is in his 80′s, and loves to forward jokes and interesting stories to me. Me and several hundred other people in his email list. At first, I have to admit, they were usually deleted without a reply back from me. I knew he wasn’t sending them to just me, so why bother saying thanks.
Then one day, I learned that a friend of mine had lost her father. He was the same age as my Dad. It made me realize that I wasn’t appreciating how lucky I am to still have both of my Parents. They live about 30 minutes away, but I hardly ever see them. So now when my Dad sends me emails, I reply back, with at least a “thanks Dad”. Some are included below, and I add new ones as he sends them. Don’t worry, I wont share all of them, just the ones that make me smile (or maybe even laugh).
And in case you are wondering, I’m taking my Parents to lunch whenever I can, including tomorrow (the day after I’m writing this).
