I needed propane today, so I went to Harris Teeter to exchange my empty tank for a full one. I noted the price on the way in to the Store, because I like to know prices of items before I pay for them. Also because I want to make sure that the price scans correctly at the register.
A few minutes later, standing at the cash register, I noticed that the tank rang up $22.99, not $21.99. I didn’t mention this to the cashier, because I wanted to verify that I had remembered the marked price correctly. Going back outside to pick up the new tank, I checked the price again, it was $21.99.
From HarrisTeeter.com:
- Our scan guarantee states “If an item scans higher than the shelf tag or sign, you will receive one like item free, excluding alcohol and tobacco.” We will honor five “scan guarantees” per customer; all other pricing inadequacies will result in the difference between the shelf tag and the actual price of the item being refunded.
I got the amount of my propane tank for refunded, making it FREE. The service desk associate mentioned that the price had changed recently. If you shop at Harris Teeter, you might want to check the price on the Propane tanks, maybe you could get your tank for FREE too!
